BMXfeed
BMXfeed is a BMX-related news aggregator and index of associated RSS feeds.
Initially developed as a RSS feed directory, BMXfeed has influenced an industry-wide adoption of RSS feeds, increasing participation from <1% to 95% since launch. This site has been recognized in print and online publications worldwide, including Dig Magazine, RideUK Magazine, ESPN.com, and Defgrip.net.
“Simply put, BMX Feed is your one-stop shop for the most recent BMX information on the Web, minus the editorial slants and anonymous slander that you might find else where.”
- Brian Tunney, ESPN.com
NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance
The NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance was looking to realign their website to better meet the needs of their target audience as well as improve usability for the 214,000 unique visitors the website handles monthly.
The site’s layout was redesigned to improve navigation and to increase the prominence of frequently updated news items. Mirrored sub-sites were also developed in Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish to reach a larger portion of OTDA’s target audience.
Since this redesign launched, website-related support calls and email have been reduced significantly. Baseline bandwidth and storage usage were also reduced resulting in cost savings for the agency. The New York State Forum recognized the OTDA website with the 2008 “Best of the Web” award for innovative use of web technology by a state government agency.
Poestenkill Library
The Poestenkill Town Library was interested in developing their web presence while retaining their small-town feel. Sitting on a WordPress foundation, this site gives library staff the ability to maintain current events and related library information without significant technical knowledge.
